Get ready for a night of authentic Delta blues at Maxie’s Juke Joint Blues Series! Join us as we welcome the legendary James “Super Chikan” Johnson. Hailing from a family deeply rooted in music, with influences from his grandfather Ellis Johnson and uncle “Big” Jack Johnson, Super Chikan’s blues journey took flight with a humble diddly bo, evolving into mastery of the guitar and bass.
From playing alongside Delta blues legends to crafting his own signature sound, Johnson reached the pinnacle of his musical journey with the release of his debut album, “Blues Come Home to Roost,” which garnered critical acclaim and prestigious awards.
