After breaking through with the hit 2017 album Highway Queen and winning the Outlaw Female category in the 2018 Ameripolitan Music Awards, country singer-songwriter Nikki Lane tried something different. She enlisted Joshua Homme of the rock band Queens of the Stone Age to produce her latest album, Denim & Diamonds. The roots-music journal No Depression applauded: “Her brash kiss-offs, lovelorn pleas, and plenty of that good old-fashioned American grit come out to play with producer Homme’s thrashing rock and roll sensibility – a deliciously satisfying combo.” Her songs, like “Right Time,” “Jackpot,” “First High,” and “Denim & Diamonds,” are totally relatable – and lots of fun.
