  • City-owned, this example of Mississippi urban forestry features three lakes, nature trails, a jogging and walking track, biking, horseback riding trails, and fishing. The latest addition is the Bonita Lakes Arboretum, where over 85 (and counting) species of trees and plants have been tagged with educational labels and QR codes.

    Fun Fact: Bonita Lakes became the location of Mississippi’s first geocache in October of 2000.

    Admission is free and open year-round, 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.

    Directions: From I-59/20, take exit 154-A if you’re traveling east or exit 154 if you’re traveling west to Highway 19 south. Bonita Lakes is on the right.
